“Shaping Cultural Diversity” –German Coalition for Cultural Diversity White Paper Now Available in English

This white paper version 1.0 is a project of the German Coalition for Cultural Diversity, and was compiled by more than sixty experts from the fields of culture or development. It contains recommendations for action addressed to the decision-makers and stakeholders bearing political responsibility for the protection and promotion of diversity of cultural expressions. It includes six thematic chapters: the Political Dimension of Cultural Diversity; Microcosms of Cultural Diversity; Fair Culture; Creativity and Innovation; Diversity in the World of Digital Media; Arts Education for Cultural Diversity.

This initiative follows two similar projects initiated by coalitions for cultural diversity for the implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the diversity of cultural expression: the Switzerland’s Coalition for Cultural Diversity white book “Cultural Diversity – More Than A Slogan!” (http://www.diversiteculturelle.ch) launch in Bern on October 16, 2009, and the French Coalition for Cultural Diversity study entitled: "Les politiques culturelles en France" (http://www.coalitionfrancaise.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/brochure_coal_eng0509.pdf) that outlines the principal policies in support of the various creative sectors existing in France from the perspective of cultural professionals active in the sectors in questions.
